About the class

Discover Foundational Hand in this self-paced class based on the experience from dozens of live workshops I ran during the years. For beginners, it's an excellent entry point to broad-edge calligraphy. Yet, its demand for precision and structure makes it an excellent study for more advanced calligraphers looking to refine their hand or learn another style.

You'll learn the main ideas, structure and understand how to correctly space the letters. During the class we'll cover both the minuscule and majuscule alphabets.

Access: All sessions are pre-recorded. You get half a year to watch, pause, and practice at your own pace, fitting the lessons into your schedule without feeling rushed.

Level: All levels are welcome. It's a perfect class for beginners, but more advanced calligraphers will also find it useful.

Geometry & Rhythm

You'll discover the beauty of well-planned proportions and consistency. You'll learn how to construct balanced letters and how to maintain consistent rhythm



Structure

We'll take an in-depth look at each letter and stroke. I will actively point out common mistakes, explain why they happen, and show you exactly how to overcome these difficulties.


The Complete Alphabet

We will analyze the anatomy of every single minuscule and majuscule letter, stroke by stroke. Additionally, the extensive handouts will introduce you to a range of letter variations.



Your instructor

I’m a designer, letter artist, and calligrapher based in Katowice, Poland. I’m also an academic teacher at the Graphic Design Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice. In 2022, I earned my Ph.D. for my work on methodology and visual systems for teaching calligraphy to graphic design students.

I conducted numerous live calligraphy workshops in Poland and other locations, including Rome, Helsinki, Bratislava, Zaragoza, and Zlín, to name a few. Additionally, since 2016, I have conducted regular calligraphy workshops for the Academy’s students. I’ve been running online classes for five years now, having the opportunity to work with students from all over the world.
