Session 3: Variations & Interpretation

In our final session, we’ll explore how to add more movement and personal character to Fraktur. Building on the lowercase letters and capitals from the previous lessons, we’ll work with words and short compositions, balancing variation with consistency.

We’ll focus on:

• Changes in proportion and stroke weight.
• Creating movement through extensions, exaggeration, changes in scale, and shifts along the baseline.
• Selected ligatures, numerals, punctuation marks, and diacritics.
• The session will finish with a short demonstration of Fraktur with a flat brush.
